Fire Involving 2 Heavy Goods Vehicles Carrying Hazardous Materials on 12/14/2021 South of Beaune

The accident was reportedly caused by icy conditions. The 2 heavy goods vehicles caught fire. Both drivers were slightly injured and taken by SAMU and SDIS21.

The fire was brought under control in less than an hour, limiting the risk of a caustic soda leak and thus environmental pollution.

The gendarmerie established a security perimeter. The Technological Risk Unit was mobilized along with the French Office for Biodiversity. No pollution was detected, as also confirmed by the Regional Health Agency.

The truck's unloading could then be carried out.

The hazard labels (class 8) and orange plates were still clearly visible on the tanker. Indeed, they must be able to withstand a fire and provide content information to first responders.
